Key Characteristics: Annual herb to 2 m; branchlets hollow. Leaves opposite, simple, oblong, chartaceous, to 16 x 8 cm, base obtuse, margin dentate, apex acute; petiole to 2 cm. Capitula a few, in a compact axillary corymb. Outer phyllaries leafy, oblong; inner ones narrower, brown. Capitula fully double, globose, to 15 cm wide, with no disk, and with twisted ray florets of various colours.
